Soup Mail

aka “Tall Poppy Syndrome”

In there your shadow
that is challenged to please you,
ghostly promises
from one whom forsaken life
and will not rest till you do.

I am absolutely clueless to what this means. I wish I knew what this write was all about. Your work is always so tender and sweet. I don't get it. Wish like some of the others I'd get a soup mail of explanation. Hope you're doing well!

Interesting, contemplative work. It's crazy--all the deceptions and lies---when will we ever rest from it? So how will it end? Keep up the amazing work. Always, Laura

The dark side of social media and people. Unsettling. Have you ever read The Gossips by Theodore Roethke. It is very good.

Intriguing free verse, Harry. Especially including "Tall Poppy Syndrome" with the title of: Soup Mail. As I understand it, Tall Poppy Syndrome isn't always defined as a defamation of character, a slander through envy, but can also symbolize the underdog or darkhorse. If this poem was inspired by the usual wankerism, try not to pay it too much heed.
