About This Poem

Forsaken And Taken

Forsaken and taken.
Was all they now knew.
Forsaken and taken.
Resentment through.

To another land she one day came.
Promised love, and freedom same.
Sacrificing past to come and stay.
From a poor country, so far away.

Her man was full of hidden rage.
He placed her in a legal cage.
Hidden beneath his dying skin.
Guilt and shame, had worn thin.

Time did pass the days went by.
Life was which did make her cry.
Others knew what did transpire.
Others knew, he was a liar.

Life does have ways of showing.
Other eyes and hearts to knowing.
No-one came to help a hand.
Then they placed a wedding band.
She kept her faith in freedom near.
Confided in a man so dear.
The other did not choose to see.
Plans were set, to make her free.

Deepened sorrow was soon spread.
The good man had an empty bed.
The other not a care had he.
Acceptance he had victory.

To walk away they surely would. To wait was all their plan could.
To prey for winters play of cards.
To final end death hospital wards.

Arrived time brought even more. Than any thought expected for.
The cage erected, seen been built.
Placed on all involved pure guilt.

In the end there was no winners.
To this odd game of equal sinners. For everything that did take place.
Turned out to be for all disgrace.

Forsaken and taken.
Was all they knew.
Forsaken and taken.
Resentment through.
