Read my Words

If you wish to understand me
I would suggest reading my words
It will reveal all the answers
Like you I am a wounded bird

I still enjoy all my flying
If you listen close I can sing
It's amazing how high I go
Look close you'll see my broken wing

Please don't think I am complaining
The other wing can compensate
I learned such a long time ago
These wings would help me escape

I flew to a place of freedom
I am not restricted by walls
The World of imagination
My gift I share with you all

Your gifts I receive in return
Personalities are unlocked
Poets are gifters of freedom
True spirits can never be mocked

Lovely, Richard. I've always wanted to fly...dream about it often. Thank God for gifting us with the ability to write and to escape when life becomes difficult to bear. Even the pain of broken wings helps us to unleash the strength inside and to soar. Great write. Glad I read this, but then again... I always read your work! Be blessed!

I can soar like an eagle and view most anything..Enjoyed your work it has such great flow, rhythm, and rhyme..Great topic..Can't remember if there is a contest about the subject of poets or writing but if for a contest reads like winning material to me..Glad that I chose this one today..Thanks for stopping by..Our daughter at one time worked for a doctor..She said it would be the skinny ones that would have all the health problems..Sara
