About This Poem

Word Out

Metaphors are poetry's loaded guns

I held the metaphor against her head and pulled
The trigger
Some time later she
Felt the pain
As cliche's spent shells
Rolled off down the pavement
I challenge you whoever you are
Your 50 cliches to my single metaphor
Heaven or hell
Different places
Or simply different points on the same continuim
Word out at the coral ok?

Modern poetry thrives on the metaphor, and, duh, I usually have to turn the page. Slap leather podner. daver

Very interesting work. At 4am I am too bleary eyed to figure it all out. Thanks for your comments on my work, Jancarl
