About This Poem

Scars Left Behind

Oh, the wounds, the gaping wounds
The wounds that never truly heal
Merely self-sutured, leaving jagged scars
left to swell, ooze and re-infect
A temporary stop-gap, a leaking dam
built to hold back the raging river of pain...

Oh, would that the scars would explode
Burst open and gush out
Gush out in primal fury
leaving me helpless and drained
Helpless and drained before the Almighty
who is able not to simply close and smooth them over,
but who is able to brutally and lovingly rip them loose
Oh yes, he is able and willing; if I am willing...

(Partly inspired (?) by events spanning the last 13 years)

Powerful Tim and brave, scar tissue does make it hard to move! I had alot of fear and so I confronted it for 5 years in Martial Arts, then I broke my right ankle & then my left ankle and leg [tons of scar tissue!] a healer told me "MY you are a stubborn one! God had to break both your legs before you saw you were on the wrong path!" GAH!!! LOL Who says I'm stubborn LOL Light & Love Cher

Very touching excellent poem written by a very good poet. I saw that you view another poet named Margherita Russo she's only 14 and I know it would mean alot for her to have you read her newest poem if you have the time. Thank you very much.

Hello Tim, loving the double flow here. I recited this poem out loud. I read the poem in a deep epic female tone. I like the ending sacrifice on this verse. Taking your will that extra level might bury and remove the scars left behind.. enjoyed :-) always the Texas She-Tasmanian Poet.
