Siren Of The Dawn
Sky becomes the Ocean
clouds become the foam
Fume and splutter cover rocks:
Mountain wraps in ivory and gold
Crimson luminosities
resurrect
your memory:
You are the People of the Dawn
Unseen giants:
hearts of sun and limbs of light,
live in the waves of the sky-ocean
You are the People of the Dawn
Suns of the strong
Suns of the righteous
Suns of peace -- You do not scathe:
You are the People of the Dawn --
We have walked together,
Stood by the bleak and despaired,
Sat by the famished and forgotten,
Cradled the diseased, the downtrodden
All the while you are silent,
I follow and too be silent,
for all that can be said
is better heard
when all that is, is quiet
Pouring forth love
Pouring forth healing
Pouring forth solace
I shall walk with you and be the silence
I shall sit with you and be the light
I shall rest with you and be the cradled
That he may blow the horns and trumpets
That he may summon the buffalo’s bellow, the cry of the eagle
That he may rattle the snake, loosen the tongues
That he may be the voices that awaken the People
To the rising of the Dawn of the Suns --
Mountain echoes of ivory and gold
fume and splutter over rocks:
foam becomes the clouds,
Ocean becomes the Sky
in the Siren of the Dawn
