Ice-cream camouflage

Ice-cream camouflage
Fuses to clusters of dead element.
Huge sea-foams dome the barren wood-
Light snow blows on a low shrub.
Little bugs gambol-

Capering in muddy holes.
Ephemeral drizzle fizzles- its clearness dazzles
Damp peat-suds sparkle.
Crisp ice splays
Like an emancipated starfish- melts
Deformed limbs with stitched white seams-

Young trees waiting for spring.
Two dark olive-green submarines in rapture
Patrolling a rupture of roots-
Wellington-boots suck on this soot-black bog.
Long-lost pastures lured into a coma.

Exquisite fields glitter with ice-shine. The river
Slithers on quivering pebbles- Its water-gems
Ancient fossils in flux. Smoothed-
Like a colossal python hissing at pylons-
Forking branches- witch-brooms.

A blank bliss glistening- an oozing diamond
Savouring its vibrant lichens.
Bedrock mangled by the fresh-water mesh-
A million years of milling-
Dust scattered on sediment roads

Earth-bronzes-
Burnished-copper leaves dissolve.
Ferns flourish in a gulf of whiteness-
Pure cocaine gloss- white candy-floss blossoms
Shedding their crystals. Life in tatters-
Flood-spill of late winter.
