About This Poem
THE COMMON YAWN
Everybody’s afraid of the common cold
But what about the common yawn.
It's contagious let me tell ya friend,
One person starts the whole thing off,
By tripping a switch that's buried deep
Within the mental subconscious
All it takes is for another human being to
Be in close visual range.
A tired individual lets it ripe lose
With a widening jaws reflex motion
Some tired person starts a chain reaction
A current flows an instant the brain announcing
Hey did you see that, it's our turn now
And no matter how much resistance
Or restraint one may have
It's simply irresistible, an instinctual
Reaction.
You'll just have to give in and join
This mind bending madness.
Who knows when this could end
It's passed around like a wild fire
Out of control
A cotangent without a cure, reluctantly
Humanity insatiable desire to under estimate
This sociable incurable manifestation.
Does anyone have a five hour sipping
Power drink.
Oh what the bleep, I'm tired so I'll aha ah
Go home and get some sleep.
We'll discuss about this subject tomorrow.
Good night, aha ah oops sorry about that
I had to well you can guess, yawn.
So I'll try this again, Good night my friends.
Wait a minute did you just yawn too.
Get some sleep I didn't mean to set
The whole thing off over the internet,
Yawning on cyberspace,
Sweet dreams.
