About This Poem
When You Were Here
When You Were Here
The sky used to show a beautiful color of blue
That led a path for the birds to fly so free
I know I couldn’t stop death from taking you
That stranded my broken heart left to bleed
The sun used to a have its purpose to shine
To shine upon your beautiful face
The roses used to be admired by you on their vines
Until darkness faded all of beauty away
When you were here I’d always play on the piano
To the tune of our favorite song to hear you sing
I can’t seem to touch the keys for the melody I used to know
Without your presence of joy and happiness that you would bring
The piano, the sky the sun and the birds that still fly
They all still exist, leaving me with a tear
Noticing that ever since you died
They all left their memory of when you were here…
