About This Poem
If Beavers Wore Pants
If turkeys could talk
Or elephants could squawk
What a very strange world this would be
If ants could dance
Or beavers wore pants
And hamburgers grew on trees
If bumble bees wheezed
Fleas walked on their knees
What a strange way of looking at things
False teeth on a gator
A polka dot tater
And cabbage with tiny green wings
Deers that drink beer
Or gnats with big ears
Weeds hanging down from their gizzards
Grasshoppers with cheeks
Or a cow with a beak
A group of friendly pink lizards
Don't know what this means
But they've entered my dreams
I wake up in a cold sweat sometimes
They all seem so real
Makes me shudder and squeal
So I get up and pull down the blinds
