Decision to leave behind
Objects which I have come to possess
A brighter hope, better future
Maybe one day I’ll return
Just enough Yuan to make the journey
How much I would like to send back
For a sister I care, a brother who works
A mother who lives, almost
I search and walk then sit
Handsome man in suit drops a coin by my feet
He continues to walk
He is the start of my journey home
I have enough to buy a paintbrush
Red and yellow paint, paper
I fold the paper, paint
Faith, Future, Peace, Promise
People approach, see and pay
They smile and take the folded painting
My pocket is heavy now, not my eyes
I now have enough to buy more paper and paint
Only one day I have arrived
I have enough to sleep in small hotel
Tomorrow will be brighter, better
Maybe one day I’ll return.
