war remains
small ones smell obscurity

This sounds like the aftermath of war. Though it officially ended the children are living in the rubble of it. Line three makes me think of loss in a profound way... as if there's no possible way you could bring back their innocent minds that were tainted by all the horrible things they've seen. Your few words paint a much bigger picture and story than the actual content... it's what turns good haiku into GREAT haiku. Love it!
