About This Poem
Sun and Stars
You were once my moon;
My light and midnight sorrow.
You've caused me pain so long
And I pray you won't tomorrow.
Days are slept through slowly
With turns and painful moans-
Dreams of sharpened tongues
And hands still finding stones.
Night's just like your heart. .
It's black and always cold.
I shiver quiet sadness back
With every promise told.
Comp'ny here to keep me sane
And kiss me through the bars;
And you're still my moon
And midnight sorrow-
But I'm not your sun and stars.
