hunger humour

Hunger Humour
At the small hotel 8 of us sat around a table
for our evening meal of meat cakes and
mashed potatoes; I remember the table cloth
was white and had yellows flowers on.
At the end of the meal there was only one
meat cake left and the hostess urged us to eat
everything, but no one dared take the last one.
The hostess switched off the light, a pause then
a scream a man sat there bleeding with seven
forks stuck in his hand.
