About This Poem
Twas the Night Before Christmas
On the eve of Christmas from an ICU bed
A joyous miracle about to be seen
A homeless man laid his fractured head
Ten hours prior shook his tambourine
Without earthly possessions he still felt rich
Praising his God from a corner in the alley
Beaten and discarded in a dark muddy ditch
Prepared to sail out on his grand finale
The hospital staff was stunned and dismayed
An image of Christ burst bright from his eyes
A heavenly miracle on our Savior’s birthday
A faithful servant begot his eternal prize
Written for Kim Merryman’s Contest-“Here We Go a Caroling”
A quatrain inspired by the title of a Christmas song
