The Room

I look at a dark room
With a single black chair
I wonder to myself
Who had been sitting there.

The walls are grey
There is a small TV
As I look towards it
The glass reflects only me

Where was all the color?
Just shadows on the wall
I soak in the sadness
My soul absorbs it all

Over there on the wall
Is an ancient pay phone
I hope it's still working
I'm feeling so alone

I feed it a nickel
Wait as it starts to ring
Will I find the answer
To make sense of everything

With the sound of her voice
The Whole room comes to life
The darkness that I seen
Was me missing my wife

I was on Yanny's blog and this describes the background picture.

The shadows only make the light that much more brilliant.

This one sure evokes the feelings of loneliness before calling the wife. Don't know how much of it is real or fictional, but it is effective! Yes, in my letter to myself, I got to thinking of a LOT more other things to tell myself in a letter like that. It would be at least ten pages long in reality. ahhaha

The picture on Yanny's blog evoked the emotion so here is the poem. I refrained from offering myself advice for fear I would not end up where I am now. I guess buying Goole would have been helpful.

When I was regional Manager for Canada Trust I used to be on the road a lot and yes it can be lonely at times. Amazingly just hearing her voice would brighten my day

What a beautiful poem. A tender melancholy. I loved how you summed it all up with the last line.

Fortunately she is right here beside me. Tell me about the room in your photo. Where was it taken? Why did you choose it for your background?
