About This Poem

TP

When poison ivy was first used as toiletry
Weeks of burning pain inspired a precursor to TP
Clearly it would not be green so it wouldn't be mistaken
For that horrid leaf that caused such infernal ach'n

We were safe from such mistakes -- With catalogues that Sears would send -- Seems we'd reach and grab a page -- To insure a clean rear end.... And that's the way it was back home... Nice write Jon..... Happy New Year, my friend.......Jake

You remember those days. That's too funny. That goes way back to the days of the outhouse. But I remember the stories. And I love the way you made it rhyme. Happy New Year Jake. Loved your comment!

I did make it up. It is an old poem that I had written and forgot about. Just found it recently. But, My mom recently told me she remembers an incident where this actually happened to somebody.

I didn't know of any instances where this happened until I read this to my Mom and she remembered that there were some kids when she was younger that this happened to. I just thought it would make an interesting poem.

Lol, I love Mandy's comment. Too funny. Yes, poison ivy would do it. I feel for those who mistakenly adorned their bodies with it. Too good, Jon.
