About This Poem
The Flame
The Flame
When the flame dies
What else is there to burn?
Would it be all the deceit and lies?
Transformed into ashes of no return
When the flame no longer shows
What else will be there to take its place?
Perhaps the relief of what is known
That my love for you was a total waste
When the flame has gone out
Would it be only darkness remaining there?
Or would shadows of light come about
Healing a wounded heart with care
When the flame is no longer
Does it forever destroy your passion for desire?
I feel that a soul’s flame becomes much stronger
So someday it will ignite love again, into a burning fire…
