Misanthropes

What celestial bodies must think
Watching us through microscopes
As we teeter on the brink
Our slides are labeled "Misanthropes"

Hi Andrea. You found a new one.

First of all, love Love LOVE the title; "misanthropy" is a word I often use to describe myself, so I totally identified with this piece. Again, loved the brevity and straight-forwardness of it. I'd like to make a suggestion (if I'm not being too presumptuous): what about line 2 reworked as "watching through their microscopes"? I think it'd flow a little better. Anyway, great piece; enjoyed it immensely :)

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. It is a vague commentary on the condition of man as viewed from the outside we collectively must appear to be such hateful self destructive creatures. It is really quite distressful. But as poets we are compelled to vent through our words. Thanks again ilene. it's always a pleasure to hear from you.
