About This Poem
Twelve Days of Christmas
On the first day of Christmas a stranger said to me
Buy us a cup of hot tea!
On the second day of Christmas we sat out side and ate
A partridge… which was just great!
On the third day of Christmas we joined a street choir
Sounded like a dead turtle dove
On the fourth day of Christmas I went collecting eggs
Tiptoeing in a French den
On the fifth day of Christmas a bird began to sing
Around it’s leg a cute golden ring
On the sixth day of Christmas screams were heard outside
A fox had eaten all of the geese
On the seventh day of Christmas a swan in fancy dress
Did a tango with a merry leaping lord
On the eighth day of Christmas the maids had gone abroad
For sun and sex, but no milk shakes
On the ninth day of Christmas while I was wrapping gifts
I’d forgot to get a gift for my wife
On the tenth day of Christmas I had no money left
So she settled for some home made mince pies
On the eleventh day of Christmas the pubs had all ran dry
So we stayed at home and played Monopoly
On the twelfth day of Christmas as we gathered round the tree
I asked a stranger in for some tea…
