About This Poem

Looking back

Good-bye was never mentioned but;
It was Good-bye just the same.
I told myself not to look back and I didn’t except;
The inside me did and still looks back to this very day.
    A curse woven by a mountain she wolf perhaps;
    And me the ever elusive coyote;
    Chancing the nights away;
    I often laughed but it wasn’t ever play.
She told me she sometimes;
Saw me as angel;
But the devil;
He’s an angel too;
     I saw her desperate and standing;
     “All alone against the world outside”
     But it was only a heat I thought and;
     The Philly she’s sure to run.
And where was the love she once asked.
And when I left I thought;
I was running from the devil;
But I think I was running from myself

    A deep and resounding write, Lenny. Sounds like fear of commitment or rejection? I think we all go through this, can certainly restict or restain a person. Still, "she saw 'you' as an angel", and most probably a kind one.:) Keep well, Love, Mikki

    Wow. This is deep...i see past the hallows of your ever present humor. I see inside the darkness where a light still flickers. You laugh and curse yourself as an angel fallen here but look past other possibilities that there was another angel there...go Back a few pages and look at my poem called love makes a man do crazy things...this poem reminds me of it in its own way

    I didn't get a chuckle. Your one of my faves. And this is why. You are masterful with the way you use words. You use the trick every good poet knows. Proof read.
