Lifeless Doll

Sitting, waiting, watching me closely,
Taunting me in every way.
Whispers soft, yet loud and clear.
Rushing through my tender ear.

Sitting, waiting, watching me closely,
Pulling on my worn out nerves.
Waking up to tortured screaming.
Proof to show that I was dreaming.

Lifeless doll atop my dresser,
Said to be simple cloth and stuffing.
Filled only with white gentle cotton.
Though the depths of her eyes seem cold and rotten.

Great poem. It's amazing how childhood toys can appear so real at times. It's as if a part of someone took residency inside and forever keep them in our hearts. To see one thrown away is almost like seeing them murdered..... Jake
