Sweetness of You
Giving you up would be like giving up sugar....
I put sugar in everything, spoons and spoons
as if sugar was any kind of defense against my enemies
or as if it is any kind of treatment for what ails me
I couldn't give you up because life would sour
the way ginger root tea sours the tongue without the benefit of being lightened
giving you up is like giving up sugar
and I have never learned self-denial
or the merit of artificial low calorie sweeteners
