About This Poem
I Paid The Toll
My arms open wide, I held you close to me
But nobody is there just a warm breath
You promised love together, we would see
Aroma wafts, filled with the stench of death
I never promised you on a light whim
But nobody is there just a warm breath
You took from me my heart, that was grim
My love was to give for all of my life
I never promised you on a light whim
Fate in the hand of a cold man with a knife
Taking all I had to give, took a toll
My love was to give for all of my life
Never again will I give heart and soul
You took it all from me, right at the start
Taking all I had to give, took a toll
You stole the sausage roll, it broke my heart
My arms open wide, I held you close to me
You took it all from me, right at the start
You promised love together, we would see

Heart stops beating
Knife cuts through last roll...
Why did I let you in?

For any that know me I don’t like candy but woe to anyone that take my sausage roll.
