How many of us have wondered
What life could have been?
Had we met earlier
What life might have been?
My heart has always longed
For the forbidden love we had.
My thoughts never wavered
On the love we couldn’t have.
As the years have come and gone
I wondered where you were.
Has life been good to you?
Are you happy where you are?
Maybe someday we’ll meet
In a time not so far.
When I can look into your eyes
And need not wonder anymore.
