The Iceberg and the Titanic

You were the iceberg and I the Titanic
You were a sparkling gem on the water
Waiting to turn everything tragic
I flirted with you, awestruck by your charm
Little did I know my lust would do me harm
You were the iceberg and I the Titanic

You were the iceberg and I the Titanic
I was all confidence on my maiden voyage
But it soon all turned to sheer panic
You gouged a fatal wound in my heart
The pain flooded to every part
You were the iceberg and I the Titanic

You were the iceberg and I the Titanic
Unmoved, you watched my death throes
The tear in my side ghastly... horrific
You watched me sink down to the abyss
When you could’ve patched me with a kiss
You were the iceberg and I the Titanic.

Eileen, I like the way you created a vivid and gripping cascade of a story and comapison in my mind. Love all the wonderful and devestating images that lead to the sheer panic.. Well done! good night PD

Yes, lovely metaphor. I also loved the word play in your use of the word "sheer" very witty. Bravo!

Thanks, dear Ilene. I wrote this some time ago, but wasn't sure about posting it. Thought maybe people would think it is overdone. Your affirmative post has done me worlds of good! Thank you! :) Hugs
