Fleeting Verse

Thoughts within my head ignite
Into poems to my delight
And I get quite excited when
I compose without a pen

My thoughts vanish in thin air
If I've no pen or pencil
If I forget to take great care
To wear one such utensil

Inspirations hit me
When I'm lying still
Sitting on a toilet seat
Or by a window sill

I must really make a note
To scatter pens around the floor
And as a permanent reminder
Hang one from each door

Thank god you found your pen (or fingers) for this one. Such is the plight of so many a brain.

I still lose poems. There somewhere. Hopefully one day I can retrieve them.

Such frustration to have a streak of brilliance and nothing to record it with. Happens time and again to my great chagrin. Love the message Jon!

Thank you Elizabeth. It only just occurred to me as I was responding to ilene's post that I should look for a cell phone with recording capabilities. I hope I can find one.

ah yes! i know exactly what you mean! i often think of the beginning of a poem when i'm out walking for exercise so i don't have a pencil with me. sometimes i just keep repeating the lines in my head until i get home, but sometimes they get lost, too. you've described this perfectly!

I see this is a common malady for all of us. I carry a cell phone on me most the time but it doesn't have a recording function that I know of. I'll have to find one that does.

some days better than others, occasionaly wine, sometimes location, love, anger conversation, more wine, a little lovin, whatever it takes to get the inspiration flowing. Nothing else quite like it. We have no choice but to write it down..

LOL, not only me then. There still there though frozen somewhere in our brain. Maybe a glass of wine will thaw them out.

Thank you Toquyen. But I'll forget until the next time I need a pen.

A good idea they always appear when you have no way of writing them down, I think I have lost some of my best ones because of no writing implements about xx
