Death Comes Clear

Pale moon riding high
Shredded clouds flying by
Angels and demons hover near
Misty shapes coming closer
waiting patiently for me to appear
Life is short so hurry on
With surprise I finally realize
My time is over , my life is gone

In refrain I sing my praises
What I did with my fate
Does it matter ,did it rate
Melancholy settles in
as I begin to wonder
 It didn’t have meaning
It was all lightening and thunder
The gates of death begin to open
But still I wait with no certain date
And death comes clear

Jim ,your poem made me wonder what my husband was thinking in the two weeks before he died.as the doctor told us there was noihing more they could do he never changed his expression.Never a talker, he just wanted to come home. That I made happen for him .he was only home four days ,I was with him when he took those last three little breaths. So I must say your poem is a good one to make us all think about our last days. Well done. Anne

oh my!!! Great writing on death and how its mystery becomes clear as it comes near. Well, that is how I am interpreting it. This was a pleasure to read. I sure am enjoying getting to know you through your works!!

I agree with Becca- it is sad, but it is indeed thought provoking. Very good verse you have penned my dear poet friend :)
