STRANGER IN HER DOOR

STRANGER IN HER DOOR

Her Kid looks at her:
You really want to live?
Your life is over

Gimme gimme give

She’s surprised
Been waiting all her life
run off to Africa
play the drum and fife

Who’s this kid
Standing in her door
Used to be a baby
Crawling on the floor

Used to be a toddler
Loving her to death
Who's this stranger
Sucking out her breath?

It seems that it's our loved ones that smother us, drain us, and try to hold us back. They do it out of love. But sometimes you just have to hold out your arm and say "Talk to the hand." This is how your poem spoke to me. I enjoyed it very much.
