About This Poem

Re-nuisance Parody

All I see from where I sit
Are mounting bills and other shit
I turn and look the other way
And only see more bills to pay
I sit endlessly reclining
Looking for a silver lining
For I've not earned a single cent
Since my tragic accident
And all I see from where I sit
Are mounting bills and other shit
My account is quickly dwindling
But these letters make good kindling
My creditors don't understand
Just overstretch this rubber band
So, when I finally snap and fail
They'll quickly cart me off to jail
The bills arrive here by the ton
I cannot pay them. No, not one!
The postage on them makes me ill
Totaling more than any bill
Next my possessions will be sold
And I'll be kicked out in the cold
So, when I finally snapped and failed
I was then summarily jailed

Hope it isn't a true story Jon, but you sure captured it well and it will be true for some that's for sure. xx

It is a fictional poem. And hopefully untrue for any. Thank you so much for visiting and reading my poem today.

Thank you Terry. You know how much I love parody. I've been planning on looking for other parodies on the soup. Haven't done it yet. I'm hoping I will find many but if not I'll have to try and figure out how to sponsor a contest just for parodies.

Is it a true story? Or You have great imagination. Some are going through that right now. There is no doubt. I don't know what one would do if he/she finds one's self in that situation. Good writing, Jon.

That you Toquyen for visiting my poem. This poem is a parody of a poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay titled "Renascence". I wrote another parody of this same poem of hers. My other poem is titled "Resonance".
