About This Poem

Winter's Blanket

Stained glass wings rest in awe
Neath velvet quilt of fallen of snow

Swallowtail and commas caressed
A peaceful reverence for winter’s show

Orion prances through the night
Stirring up the dust of stars

As angels weave their guilded-white
Earthbound cloak from afar

Written for Gail Doyle’s Contest “Winter’s Blanket”

*Black Swallowtail and Commas are 2 species of Ohio butterflies

This is a perfect entry into Gail's contest, especially because of the angels in your poem, she loves them(well I do too)! You have impressed me with your skillful rhyming that you have presented! What a delightful piece and a grandiose poem, Great Work!!
