Hearts Can Be Broken
Though my heart is beating, it misses a beat or two
The reason I can’t think of, unless that reason is you
Promises that are made, excitement so hard to contain
When will I be able to whisper to you, your own name.
Closer together two cannot be, when together they are one
This is the promise I have made, a promise of things to come
Hearts beating together joining beat for beat
Keeping rhythm together, that’s what we all do seek
Until the day this comes to pass, keep my heart close and safe please
Don’t make promises you cannot keep and never try to tease
Hearts can be broken and we know this is a fact
If you find you don’t want mine, please return it to me intact.
