About This Poem
Separate Ways
Would you be dashed upon a stone
if my dreams did not include your Heaven?
If there are no pearly gates
and no flaming fires below?
Knowing, we may never meet
in the lifetime after this,
in the life that's lived in Spirit,
would you still want that kiss?
knowing, that I can't take you with me
and I cannot do the work for you
Knowing, that I'll never compromise my Spirit, my Soul
to buy into childish renditions
of where the 'good' souls go.
There's no 'Happy Ever After' here
because you'll go to that place
that resonates with your Spiirit
and I'll go to mine.
Foolish dreams of family
and commitments made along the way
some grand reunion in the fairest meadow
perhaps, it's just a welcome home.
No, abandonment will not be my due on that day!
I choose to be met by those who knew me before
I came kicking and screaming into this world
with heart bonds firm and secure.
You'll go your way –
and I'll go mine
Don't fill me with unholy judgments
and don't try to save my Soul
while you stand there, waist deep in the mud
waiting for salvation
when it was given so long ago.
The grave cannot hold me
and eternal life is already mine
and if you're in disagreement
You'll go your way –
and I'll go mine.
(Love me or hate me... I am who I am...)
