Intoxication

Piping on my old corncob
Piping on a mellow blend
None could stand it at my job
Said one coughing
              "This must end"

               "Pipe away outside the office"
So I piped outside the door
               "Piper, pipe much further onward"
So he piped and coughed some more

"Drop thy pipe and put it out"
                "Chew on nicorette or gum"
So I checked my empty pockets
For a stick but I had none

"Piper sit thee down and wait"
"One will go and get thee some"
So he vanished from my sight
But Alas, returned with none

So, I got a separate office
I'd enjoy the atmosphere
And I wrote outside my door
Very heavy smoker here

Thank you Eileen. I am so glad you enjoyed it. Your comment brought a smile to my face. This is a parody I wrote of one of William Blake's poems. I love to write parody. I think it's my favorite poetic style.

This was fun. Made me think of my grandpa who always smoked a pipe. Still love the smell of pipe tobacco although I have never been a smoker.

Very nice poem, but I hope you quit soon . Smoking can kill you. I enjoyed it very much. Lucilla

I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. I don't smoke though. Smoking can kill. This is a parody of "Introduction" by William Blake from his book "Songs of Innocence". for some reason his poems cry out to be parodied. At least to me anyway.
