About This Poem
Winter's Blanket
Away from busy streets are nature’s reservoirs -
beds of ground which by November have gone brown.
Beneath a canopy of sparkling stars
they’ll lie in peace when winter lays its velvet blanket down.
November’s earthen beds, once fields of green,
await the thick white quilt that flakes from sky will bring.
How beautiful they’ll shine in moonlight. How pristine -
until their blanket is removed by warmth of spring!
