John, you have completely captured most perspectives from which captivity can be viewed. You have brought them together with your masterful pen. I am of the age where I was too young for ww2, joined the service with 1 month left in Korean war and was too old for Vietnam. I am always left wondering.... could I have endured the pain and suffering of battle and possible captivity? There are those who did and those who didn't.... and we who will nerver know... Such a blessing can also be a curse...

Great poem. It made me think about Senator McCain when he was a prisoner. The isolation of the POW's is so very hard and to come home a blessing. PS I wrote another Troll poem called 'Biker Dudes'. My Dad has a Harley Davidson so I wrote it to make him laugh.

God alone knows how much POWs go through; how they're unable to speak the unspeakable, yet they have to live with it forever...breaks my heart. Thanks for sharing this, and for the visit. Always, Annalise
