Sleepless Nights
Sleepless nights have passed me by.
How many hours do I lie
Awake, Dreamless, Weary, Afraid
That this curse is something I've made?
Do all the choices that I make
While I'm coherent and awake
Somehow affect the way I rest?
Or contribute to my distress?
If the answer is yes, then pray;
Tell me of some simple way
That I could once again meet sleep,
To dream my dreams, and my dreams keep.
They say night is darkest before the dawn,
But my sleepless nights have been too long.
