the walk home from work
inside the little flower shop
a goodbye rose
in subtle shades of pinks
and fiery reds
a love foundered
thorns pricked the flesh
drew a crimson tear
a single rose
separation and regret
could not express
all that this gift should say
forget me nots
placed on the park bench
our meeting place
where honesty was lost
where you told me
you were leaving
the long walk home
a heart moving on
crushing the memories
crisp air to the mind
upon the step
