About This Poem
Reminisce
I thought I would love you forever
and thirty three years
should count for something
You were never mine
but I was always yours
and only the wind
could claim you
We walked those fields of stone
beneath the Grand Tetons
your grandfather and his father
were buried there
we claimed our spot
and planted our stones
We watched the sun rise
from our favorite park bench
and greeted the old couple
who passed us by
seen them disrobe
and walk into the Puget Sound
How could we have known?
How...
could we have known?
Life became heavier then
and I was awkward
in expression
while you were the pro
You were melancholy
and I...
the wilted rose
There was a magic we shared
our story isn't complete
without it
or you were simply psychic
and I was the strings
of your favorite guitar
and you played
and you played
(I'm telling you...
the man could play!)
But I was psychic too
You must have missed that
somehow.
Baby...
"You're a star!"
