About This Poem
Note to Self
The bottom fell out
From under my stock
My shares were in Enron
A terrible shock
It was most stressful
But I shall recover
I'll rebuild my nest egg
One way or the other
This time I'll diversify
As I re-build my wealth
Write down this note
This, Note to Self
In the past I worked out
I went to the gym
I was healthy, muscular,
Well toned and thin
But, since I have stopped
I am peak-ed and sick
And have developed
An annoying tick
My choice is simple
I must re-build my health
Write down this note
This, Note to Self
I love my deserts
I eat to many foods
When I am finished
My belly protrudes
Food once on the table
Now all entombed
Reviewed only briefly
Before being consumed
I shall bridle my mouth
And leave the snacks on the shelf
Write down this note
This, Note to Self
At the crossroads
We should all eschew pelf
And make the decisions
That improve our own health
