About This Poem

Small Pieces

Gray wings at morning's light
Just before false dawn escapes
Streaks of silver in a keyboard sky
Pastel flashes in the daybreak

Colored mist on spider webs
Sewn on like otherworldly lace
Hold temporary precious
Dewdrop jewels
Breathlessly suspended and trembling,
Inviolate
Over sleeping flower faces...
Royal wardrobe incomparable.

And Hummingbirds hover in the air
All bill and curve in morning haze;
Motion without movement
Vibration blurring scarlet specks
Darting in to taste the sweetness
Waiting lambent
Deep within the waking blooms.

Small pieces
Waiting for true Dawn
And I am part of all.

This is lovely!! You describe what I see out my window in the morning - right down to the humming bird.
