Black Farewell

Soaring across a frosted boundary,
Above the fogs of mystery,
He shaketh like a single leaf
On a wintered, scrawny tree;
Perching on a branch of white,
Resting from a most tired flight,
His home is but a blackened mess
An ember-dimming wilderness;
Though layers of snow blur do quickly blind,
Easy is the damage to find;
Though whitened is many a brush,
The lone raven bids farewell to hope of springtime lush,
And he takes to the skies
New land he must find. . .

    Very clever interlocking symbols in this write Laura - few people respect the power and grace of Winter, in this poem you demonstrate to a profound understanding of that magnificent season that most simpltons curse, and they oft say they love walks in the snowfall, but only for a quick, cheap moment - J.A.B. %
