About This Poem
Joy
Joy
She sat and played a tinkling tune
upon the keys of white
So cheery that it filled the room
With sunny rays of light
Without the sky was dark and grey
And cheerful as a tomb
The rain began to reach the ground
Thus deepening the gloom
But here the light is just as bright
As ever summer day
No low'ring cloud can enter here
When Joy begins to play
At times she leaves for days on end
Because I am a pill
But when I call her back, she comes
She's glad to see me still
When I'm in prayer, she always seems
Far closer than before
And when I walk the road to church
She meets me at the door
And now I've saved the best for last
The greatest till the end
The Lord has given me His Word
That joy might be my friend!
