When The Glass Is Empty

Your in a world where I had to leave...

When two hands seperated I found me ...

A crumbling picture that broke my heart...

With all my love and words, it still fell apart...

Days and time to realize what I can't fix...

From a bottle to a glass our lives couldn't mix...

Your eyes blurred as I spilled my soul...

As words fell on ears that wouldn't hold...

Now as the calender drips into new days...

I write of a love that came and went away...

Through all the storms I found a stronger me...

In poetry and love is where I'll be...

{a story of a past love who chose addiction over me}

    Heartfelt! Addiction is tough. And so is leaving,,,under any circumstances, while you still have strong feelings for the other.

    Always a pleasure to read you. But you might want to fix the first word. :-)

    Well written Michael! The notion of the glass being empty signifies a finished chapter and provides an opportunity for a refill(with better contents of course). Nice!

    Really like your theme of finding yourself separate from a relationship. I try to not let my relationships, or other people, define me, but it is so easy to get lost there.

    Michael, your second line is brilliant as it sets the tone for how you saved yourself by letting go. It is one of the most difficult challenges of life, not go follow one you love deeply down a destructive path, l have been there and l had to let go too. You write beautifully.
