About This Poem

Creature From the Black Lagoon

Beware the creature from the black lagoon with botox lips that gasp a dry tune. This creature will get you, get you real soon your peaceful night’s sleep will turn into ruin. Heroes were searching for treasures and lore, on the edge of their seats audiences wanted much more, so from the dark depths a gilled villain did rise with monobrowed face and soul searching eyes. Oh the suspense as it waddled on deck raising its paws - paws?!? What the heck? Ok, fingery flippers with great big long claws Either way it is scary and gives breathing a pause. The girl is stolen away to the deep by a monster so vile that this - one horrible thought will prevent any sleep - in the next scene, surely they’ll kiss! That’s all to be told of this creature green, leaving it up in the air, rent the old movie and watch every scene be bold, be brave, take a dare. Soon it will be the eve of all Saints and you will be looking to scare all of your friends, including yourself, be bold, be brave, but beware of that terrible creature from the black lagoon the one that is coming for you. It will turn your sweetest of dreams into ruin as surely as errant Haiku.

I haven't thought about that old movie in years. Scary at the time... I like your natural rhyming and rhythm patterns. It seems to come easy to you.... I write with much the same pattern. Come see me sometime.... Jake
