Empty Wheelbarrow

.

                                         woman rakes leaves
                                         talking to the flowers
                                         about old age
                                             on full harvest season
                                                 an empty wheelbarrow

As we age it does seem as if our wheelbarrow is slowly being emptied. I like your poem Ruben. Congrats

I love this! It has such a melancholy tone, the ending of a season that touches me. A lovely poem, Ruben (I talk to my flowers sometimes, and sometimes I have to scold them.......because they like to throw an occaisional party with the weeds!!)

Hi, Ruben! Reading this brilliant tanka of yours makes me want to try writing one-- but I just don't have the brains to write one right now. I think it's great how you used that "empty wheelbarrow" line, very effective-- all I could think of was , "oh shucks!"
