Congratulations on your win in the contest! I like your poem and how you used the tune to keep it in the 8.6.8.6. meter. There are some issues in the flow, however, if it is intended to be sung. Since Amazing Grace is in 3/4 time the first syllable of your poem should be less pronounced than the others (the) and your next syllable should be pronounced. This pattern repeats itself all through the music. Out of room; let me know if I need to elaborate or if you would like me to work on the poem.

I don't sing, so am musically challenged. Thanks for your offer, but I guess I'd better stick to poems.

What a beauty you have pained to watch, to taste, to sing and to enjoy with the enchanting colors of my most favorite season of Autumn. The colors & echoing sounds, you have painted in the fourth Para " The autumn air sweet serenades, From birds on wing up high, Many and many more they sing, Until notes fill the sky." is one of the most beautiful sketch of birds singing in the sky. Great work my friend. A Gem like write to read and to preserve. I will mark it as my favorite.Love&BW Ravindra

Hi Joann :) What a bright and happy poem, one that I so enjoyed reading before I finish judging and writing my blog. I especically liked 'tourmaline' ... best wishes for the contest. Should do well with its nice flow and good rhythm. Now, as far as the course I took, it was directly related to my dream of having my fiction published. I took it at a local college (hmmm... I think you call Universities colleges? Here they are different.) I took Writing Popular Fiction. LOVED it.

Alternatively, see if your university's book store sells the textbooks to non-students, peruse the shelves and see what tickles your fancy. Check out your library and see if there is a writer's group to join.

I also took many 1 day workshops with an editor. Very helpful. I think it depends on what your love and goals are. Say for example, you love literature. I'd check out your local University and see if they offer and courses you'd enjoy.

My mother is very fond of the autumn, as am I. I read this to my mom and she agrees that this is a heartwarming piece for the season. Thank you for sharing and keep up the brilliant work! Always, Laura
