Writing The Saddest Lines---Emulating Pablo Neruda

without you the sky is too big to be peaceful and sleep under

without feeling the pain in different shades of grey

I miss you like a longing like an orphan like a hope like a prayer

and without you I dream in shades of grey

under a sky too immense to be peaceful under

You with eyes like a river I can walk along the banks of and never reach the end of

but trying is some of the best part

Without you I am just a small part of myself

I carry you in my heart all day like an ache I cannot soothe

under a sky too immense to be peaceful
