Living with dimensia

How often we complain
That memories are a pain
How often we say
I wish I couldn’t remember
We never know
what we are saying
We just know how to whine
Ever saw a blank face
with haunting eyes
A familiar person
scanning you for who you are
A familiar person
with whom you share so many memories
But fails to recognize you
Heart breaks into hundred pieces
When he asks you a simple question
“Who are you?”
“What are you doing here?’’
“Why are you holding my hand with such love?”
Your emotions get knotted in your throat
You feel you have nothing to say
And after that, what you remember forever
Is that familiar blank face with haunting eyes……..

Hi Irfana I feel this poem, both my grand parents developed this horrible disease and we watched them diminish befor our eyes. Thanks for your sensitive portrayal of a difficult topic.
