Season Of Faith

They say that pretend faith
Is better than none at all
So I pulled it over my head
And wore it for many seasons
But the temperature rose
And I shed the skin
I felt so close to myself
Suddenly and I walked faster
Not bound by guilt and conviction
For with faith
You move so slowly
For fear of losing track of it
Now I roam faithless and free
Outside the heavy church doors
